ICF Canoe Marathon Committee announced today the cancelation of the ICF Canoe marathon World Cup I in South Africa, host of the 2017 World Championships.

Details in the newsletter from the committe:

"Very unfortunate we have had to decide to cancel the World Cup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Due tovery low entries it turned out not to be possible to hold the event which was also meant to be a high level test of the venue for next year’s World Championships.
Instead we have managed to make sure that an open test event will be held on the same weekend with races on Saturday 9th April, 2016. This has been published on the ICF website. Further information: www.mwc2016.co.za and www.canoeicf.com"
