The spanish Alejandro Sanchez and italian Susanna Cicali won in the first day of competition at Prado 2013.

The Spanish Alejandro Sanchez and Italian Susanna Cicali won in the first day of competition at Prado 2013.

Today the day was dedicated to the K1 and C1 Juniors and Under 23 events.
Denmark was unstoppable in the K1 Junior Men, winning Gold and Silver with Casper PRETZMANN and Mads PEDERSEN. Portuguese Miguel RODRIGUES was 3rd.
In women, Amy WARD from Great Britan beated Alina GIERES from Germany. Katrine CHRISTENSEN from Denmark was 3rd.
In C1 Junior, the victory was archived by Hungary with Norbert PAUFLER taking the gold. Hugo JOUIN from France and Patryk GLUZA from Poland were 2nd and 3rd.

In the end of the morning, cavado River hosted the 4th race of the day, with Susanna Cicali from Italy wining the K1 Women Under 23, after leading the race almost from the beginning. Susanna completed the 21.5 km in 1:44:44s, less 5 second than the Swedish Michaela LINDBLAD, that took the silver. The 3rd place went to Raquel CARBAJO from Spain.

In C1 Under23, Portugal did not give any chances to the rest of the participants, taking gold and Silver, with Rui Lacerda and Samuel Amorim. 01:45:30s was the time needed to complete the 21,5km of the circuit.

The last race of the day and the most competitive was the K1 Under23 Men, with a total of 14 paddlers trying to get to gold. In the end, the small but strong Spanish Alejandro Sanchez beated by sprint the two Hungarians Adrián BOROS and Balázs HAVAS. Alejandro made the 25.8km in 01:53:32s.

Tomorrow we will have K2 and C2 Juniors and K1 Men Women and Men, from 9:30.
