16 countries and 465 athletes will compete in ICF Canoe Marathon World Cup 2018

With the nominal entries closed for the 2018 ICF Canoe Marathon World Cup, almost 500 paddlers will be racing in Viana do Castelo in the end of May.

Portugal is the host country and the national federation with more entries, also because this race is also national cup, being followed by Spain, but 14 other countries have made entries to the first international Canoe Federation official event in Marathon this year.

Australia, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden and Ukraine are the remaining federations participating in this event, where a total of 15.000 euros is set for prize money for the senior events.

Many of the world and European Champions are attending to this event, with focus in José Ramalho, five times European Champion will be paddling just a few kilometers from home.

A short race demonstration event will also take place in the first day of competition.

The provisional start list for the ICF Canoe Marathon World Cup 2018 is due to be published in the following days at canoemarathonportugal.com.
