The principal target of the TIP is to identify and promote talented athletes in canoe marathon who has potential for further improvement and without the ICF and Local organization financial support wouldn’t be able participate in the World Championships.

The programme will be held in connection with the Marathon World Championships in Prado Vila Verde,
taking place in Portugal from 6 to of 9 September 2018 and will include a training camp for approximately 1 week before the competition.

The project provides priority for the men and women kayakers and canoe paddlers from countries, which are new to Marathon or have not taken part in a Marathon World Championships before.
This means that in case there are available places then for example countries new to marathon in canoes could be considered.

The Programme:
The invited athletes will participate in Training Camp and in the U23 or Senior World Championships in
Prado(Vila Verde) on 6-9 Sept with a coaches’ assistance.
(Please note: Juniors will only be considered if they can be accompanied by another adult TIP applicant or an accompanying adult fully funded by the paddlers National Federation)

Application to the Programme:
Application can be sent on the enclosed form by the national federations which have not entered the ICF Marathon World Championships before other than through a previous TIP programme.

- The age limit of the athletes is 15 to 23 of years. (Birth years are:1996-2003)

The camp will be limited to approximately 10 athletes so please apply early to be sure of being accepted.
Athletes might be invited continuously to the TIP in the coming years in consideration with their progress and cooperation with organization, coaches, team members and officials.

The applicant national federations will receive the decision of invitation to the programme before 15th July 2018

Financial conditions:
- Expenses (including accommodation, internal transport, boat rental and accreditation fee will be covered or arranged by the Host Organisation.

- The traveling to Portugal and back to origin city including any visa costs must be paid by the participants National Federation.
